The gravy train for Essex County Councillor's free meals could be over after a report recommended the perk be scrapped.
Members are entitled to a free three-course meal when at the County Hall restaurant, Chelmsford, on "approved duties", including council meetings, but also for other council business.
The scheme has been criticised by opposition councillors as a waste of money during a time of austerity.
